I have to disagree. There is no such thing as "a clear and true picture" in politics, more like fotm positions that will change depending on polling data and public opinion. The websites of politicians will only be filled with glowing praise of every thing they've ever done, no matter how insignificant and pointless it may have been, so they really won't be much help in learning about a candidate. I think Lakatz has it right, actions speak louder than words. You need to do some research to know what a candidate is really about, and listen to what both supporters and critics have to say.

I probably should have clarified a bit more. You get a "clear and true picture" of their CURRENT position on plans and issues for their Presidency. "Flip-flopping" and lying aside, most candidates have already clearly laid out where they stand on the most debated and talked about issues on their website. Point is, don't use this simple "tool" to make up your mind for you because that would be a huge mistake.

But yeah, I definitely agree that doing extra research is highly recommended. Like lakatz said, it's best to visit all forms of somewhat reputable sites, whether it's biased or not. Sometimes, knowing the negativities of your candidate of choice is just as important as knowing the positives. However, it's best to not always trust everything you read, see, or hear until you've verified it to the best of your ability.

Not necessarily. I am by no means democratic, but seem to always favor the democratic candidates, because as a general rule, republicans are Christian extremists.

& the fact that the democrats typically have better policies.

On a side note, politicians - better bullshitters than lawyers.

As for me, I think it was 9/10 Obama. The best choice for the election would be Obama/Hillary. Hillary would probably make a great Vice, but I have this nagging feeling it would be a big mistake to have her as President, & her policies are nearly identical to Obama's - only minor differences in the details. Unfortunately, there are bound to be numerous assassination attempts on Obama...

7/10 for Obama and Hillary. I do tend to be a left-leaner so it makes sense that the two top Dem candidates are the ones that I agree with most. I still haven't decided which one I'm going to vote for in the primary today...

No comment about who I am closest to. Frankly I don't like many of the canidates this time around. When Howard "Leeroy Jenkins" Dean decided to strip Florida of its deligates because the democrats didn't have enough votes to override the republican state congress and all the wannabes fell into line, I think that made me never want to even consider voting for one of them. They don't care about the people, only their party politics. When the Wicked *itch of the North East blamed the party for her not campaigning here I wanted to puke in her face. All she had to do is break ranks and come out in support of the people and Obama would be history by now. Instead she did what the republicans always accuse the Clintons of and that's diverting things. Likewise if Edwards or Obama broke ranks, they'd be clearly in the lead; they would have gotten a maverick status to go with the politics that would appeal to their bases and pushed voters into their corner.

Democrats, I know you really don't care and I can't be bothered to listen to your lies anymore. All you really want is an America under your whip and chains.

As for the republicans, we already have one liberal party and we don't need a second one. The last six years of Clinton worked mostly because the two groups were able to neutralize one another. McCain is too liberal on some key issues (increasing gas taxes anyone), Huckabee is too much of a populist, and Romney doesn't look like he can win. When you've got someone as far right as Ann Coulter willing to vote for a democrat, you know something is very wrong with the republican party.

Republicans, if Reagan was alive part of me thinks he'd jump ship to a new political party based on the principles he believed in.

I am so tempted to just write in a canidate to show my dislike of the people I think are going to win.

It's good to see a fellow right-wing, is it just me or did 90% of you get a democrat candidate? I got Romney with 8 then Huckabee and Ron Paul with 7, then McCain with 6, then Obama with 5, then Clinton with 4.

This time around the quiz was rather accurate as I support Romney. The quiz was altogether too vague to make any important decisions. It just touched the tip of the iceberg on the issues.

I took the other quiz that was posted and I got Romney as my first candidate once more.

Democrats = root of all evil, let the flames commence.

The quiz was accurate in the fact that McCain rated pretty low with conservatives and was actually in the top 3 for democrats, which isnt surprising at all -_-

Perhaps, but who knows.

All I know is that congress has an approval rating of 20%; that mixed with the fact that McCain and both of the remaining Dems are from the senate means there's a good chance that whoever follows Bush is actually going to be more hated.

I mean if none of them have the leadership ability to get the majority of 100 senators to enact some legislation to make congress more liked than Bush, how on Earth do you expect any of them to be able to lead the nation? None of them have the ability to lead (except Clinton, she might lead the Republicans into a revolution) and all of them want to raise taxes as a recession is looming so expect things to get a lot worse than they get better.
